Adopt a Hound / Mixed (medium coat)
DEWEY LOUIE the Dog needs a home
I will require an experienced dog owner who knows how to use `positive reinforcement training` (whatever that means). Food would work great - I will do anything for a treat ! But I really really need to work on my manners, since I tend to jump up on people and pull hard on my leash (especially when I know my breakfast or a peanut butter Kong are waiting for me). Since I am a big boy and I jump up to greet people, I shouldn''t go to a home with young children. I''m also not ideal for apartments or condos because I tend to howl and bark when left alone. What can I say, I''m part Hound! The Hound in me also means I have a nose for food - I tend to lead with my nose and am always on the hunt for something to eat!
At the shelter, I play with several other dogs. I tend to be more confident with another dog to lead me, so a home with a another social large dog (who can handle my rough-housing) to gain more confidence recomended. I would also benefit from some off-leash time - I really need to burn off lots energy. So a backyard or daily access to an off-leash dog park would be ideal.
Come on over to 821 Progress Ave (the East Region shelter) to meet me!
