Adopt a Calico (short coat)

Chelsie is a beautiful, adult, short-haired calico. Our veterinarian is unable to guesstimate how old she is for sure, but we all know that she's an adult. She came to our shelter after she was abandoned in a trailer house, where she had been left alone for TWO WEEKS. The people who found her thought that she had survived on drinking water from the toilet and whatever food she could find in the trailer. She still weighed, amazingly enough, 16 pounds! Chelsie is spayed, vaccinated, her front paws are declawed, and has tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Chelsie was very unhappy and depressed, but she has improved SO MUCH!! She is getting friendlier every day and has even been begging to sit in laps! While cuddling, she may drool out of happiness! Chelsie can't jump very high, so we put a chair by a cabinet (as a step stool) and she LOVES to rest on that cabinet and sunbathe! She's all bark and no bite... She's unimpressed when we pick her up to put her in her cage and might make some cranky-sounding meows or give us little bites to say "no" but she hasn't done anything worse than that. And of course, Chelsie loves to eat! Chelsie would prefer a quiet home without children and without cats. She needs a special person/family who has patience and understanding for her.
