Adopt a Border Collie / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

Jake Montgomery is such a fun goofball! He came to us all the way from Alabama. The shelter there was full but Jake was a staff favorite and everyone was pulling for him. How could we break so many hearts? So we took him!

He was so scared at first. Always sweet, but scared. Now he's really coming around and seems to be more and more playful with every new day. He loves belly rubs and to chase squirrels outside. He is super obedient and is learning new commands all the time. 

Jake is friendly and playful with other dogs. He's great in the car. He's super smart. Jake would fit in great in a condo, apartment, townhouse, single family house since he is quiet enough and is content with a couple decent walks per day. He is completely house trained. 

In the house Jake just wants to be able to look out the window (for squirrels of course) and lay around and get pets. Then if you act playful with him he immediately gets on board and turns into a playful puppy! Otherwise he is so calm and quiet in the house I sometimes forget he’s here. 

He really is a very well-behaved, puppy-like dog and would make a great, low-maintenance companion for a moderately to very active female with or without other men or women in the house. His foster mom is currently in Northern Virginia with Jake so if anyone in the DC area is interested please feel free to inquire! If you’re in South Florida, we will be back soon don’t worry! Jake is about 3 years old and will eventually be a healthy 50 or so pounds. 

Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip.  Please fill out our application at
