Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Cash the Dog needs a home

Meet Cash! He is a sweet yet cautious Labrador mix, with a beautiful light tan and white patchy coat. He is estimated to be about 2 1/2 years old and weighs in at 55 pounds. Cash is a really smart guy…he found us rather than us finding him! In our attempts to capture a different dog altogether, Cash walked into the cage instead! Instead of letting him go, we realized it was meant to be and lovingly took him into our program, making a promise to find him a better life.

It has now been about 8 months and Cash is safe in a foster home, dreaming of a family to call his own. He has furry foster siblings and his favorite thing to do is run and play with them. You’ll know when he’s ready to play because he will spin around for you. He’s not much into chasing a ball or a toy, but he will be right on the heels of his furry siblings who do like chasing the ball. If he ends up with the ball, he will simply lay down and chew on it. Cash is great with kids that are little bit older and understand that he needs time to warm up.

Cash is unsure of new people and new experiences at the moment, but we are seeing consistent improvement in this area. He typically enjoys spending time alone on the floor, doesn’t offer his belly for belly rubs yet, and is a bit nervous of someone walking behind him while on a leash. Recently however, he’s been climbing onto the couch to cuddle with the other dogs, and his foster mom has reported that he has been spending time under her desk on a dog bed with his head resting on her foot. Also, the more walks he goes on, the more he realizes that there is nothing to be afraid of. He takes treats very gently and shows no signs of fear aggression. This progress shows that with a patient and loving family of his own, he will build trust and leave the skittish tendencies behind.

Because of his uneasiness in new situations, Cash will need a family that gives him the time to explore and investigate his new home, but also the gentle touch that will help him continue to build trust and confidence. He would also benefit greatly from having both doggie and human siblings to play with. Cash does not like being locked in a crate at all, but prefers the door open so he can walk in and out of it as he pleases. He is a perfectly healthy boy, house-trained, neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

Cash’s ideal new family will be a patient and active one with both furry and human siblings. He would not be a great running partner or traveler at this time due to his tendency to be overwhelmed by new experiences. In the right supportive environment, Cash can become a loyal and confident family member. If this describes your family, we would like to make this connection! The first step is to send an email to [email protected], so we can reach out to you to set up a visit. Cash's adoption fee is $200.
