Adopt a West Highland White Terrier Westie (medium coat)

Remember the Westie boy that went through Hurricane Irma alone down in SW FL after his owner was taken to the hospital then hospice? Well here he is! After a month on good food, meds and good care, he's all cleaned up and ready to make his official debut. So, we are pleased to re-introduce Scuffy. This sweet boy is estimated to be 10 years old, very sweet, does well with dogs, cats and older kids. He has some issues that his new family will need to deal with. The first thing is that Scruffy is blind. Now don't think that slows him down though. he is extremely independent once he learns the environment.  He even uses the dog doors and knows right where the food and water are. Once he learns his way around you won't know he can't see. Unfortunately he has chronic dry eye that apparently wasn't treated. He also had some skin issues that are clearing up but will need to be maintained with proper diet and supervision. Scruffy needs someone who is retired or works from home as he doesn’t do well with being alone for long periods. He's a very relaxed boy and he loves to cuddle and sleep at your feet during the day. He doesn't really like to go for walks much. That may be because of the blindness, he might just be more comfortable in familiar territory. A Home Safety Check will be required prior to approving any adoption.
A tax deductable DONATION is requested at the time of adoption. These donations are the lifeblood of the organization and we can't rescue Westies without them. We operate under the 501(c)(3) of the Mid Atlantic States; their suggested tax-deductible Adoption Donations range from $250-$500. The Adoption Donations are not for a particular dog, but go toward rescue and care of incoming dogs.
