Adopt a German Shepherd Dog (medium coat)
Lady the Dog needs a home
Lady is a beautiful black German Shepherd who was used as a breeding dog by a "hobby breeder." That's a person who keeps fewer than 10 breeding females, so doesn't have to be licensed (or overseen) by the state. The condition of her body - she has udders like an overused milk cow - speaks volumes for how often she was bred during her 3 years as a puppy factory. Her last litter produced only 4 pups, which she refused to nurse after they were 6 weeks old, so her owner put a piece of baling twine around her neck, and brought her to a local small livestock auction. There, in the ring, surrounded by crates of chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits, Lady was auctioned off. Well, actually, the twine was auctioned off (since the auction isn't licensed to sell dogs) and Lady came with the twine. And so lovely Lady came into rescue.
It should be noted that during this entire process, Lady remained calm, watching everything but showing no signs of stress even though she was surrounded by all of those animals, constantly approached by strangers who brushed past her or stopped to pet her. She was a perfect Lady at all times. IMHO, she would make an awesome therapy or service dog. She is very people friendly, and is currently sharing a yard with 4 other dogs with no problems. She has not been cat tested, but that can be done if desired.
She has now been spayed, heartworm tested (negative), microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and dosed with Revolution for flea and heartworm prevention. She weighs 56 pounds 12 ounces.
Because she is too big to ship, if you would like to adopt Lady you will have to drive here to pick her up.
Her adoption fee is $350.00
