Siberian Husky

LaRue is one of those dogs, that if I wasn’t already over my quota, I’d keep her.  I’ve never met such a quiet and sweet-tempered dog.  Her eyes beg for hugs and kisses.

OTHER DOGS – She is very afraid of other dogs until she realizes they aren’t going to hurt her.  Then she is very happy and tale wagging with them.  She was even afraid of my very friendly Chihuahua. ?

CATS – Haven’t tested her with cats yet, but there were cats living in and around the yard that LaRue was caught in.  I’m assuming if she was cat aggressive they wouldn’t stay close.

NOISE – She never talks, screams or howls for attention.  She will bark at night if she hears someone on the other side of a fence that she can’t see.  But her barks are not sharp.  They are soft and dull…almost like an old dog.  Not annoying at all.  Even then, she doesn’t bark much.

KIDS – She really breaks out of her shell around kids.  She turns into a puppy!!  She is so sweet to kids.  She doesn’t jump on them or bumps them.  She walks up wagging her tail and stands beside them hoping for a hug.  She looks like she’s smiling.

CAR – She has to be lifted into the car, but once she’s in she’s a good girl.  I’m sure after more trips she will jump right in.

BACK STORY - (I can’t attest to this back story first hand.  It is the only story I’ve been told so I’m assuming it’s true).  LaRue spent the first 6 months or so confined to a small crate in an apartment.  Her owner’s didn’t socialize her and worked all the time.  Then they moved and “couldn’t take her with them” so they turned her loose to live on the streets.  She stayed close in the neighborhood but didn’t let anyone touch her.  She was fed with left overs tossed over the fence into the yard of an abandoned house.  She spent nearly a year in this state.  SPCA came several times trying to catch her but she eluded them.  She eventually got pregnant and had her pups under the abandoned house.

SPCA came and took the pups but couldn’t catch LaRue.  I went the next day and cornered her so that SPCA could catch her.  She was reunited with her pups at the SPCA and stayed there for 5 days.  That’s when she was finally safe in the hands of NORSLED.  She was very frightened and wouldn’t walk on a leash the first few days.  She has come a long way and definitely deserves a super family to love her forever.

If you are interested in any of the dogs, the first step is to fill out an adoption questionnaire found on our website and email it back to [email protected]
