Meet Sweet Lydia

Hi, this is Lydia’s rescuer. I have encountered many rescues but was totally moved by Lydia and her sibling brother’s situation! The story started from an SOS post in a Facebook group. A picture showed two little puppies stayed next to some decayed small animals’ bones in an abandoned grave yard. One was licking the bones, another was just sitting still with a pair of dull eyes. Obviously these two little pups were trying to feed themselves with some rotten leftover from other strays’ hunt. The picture got many replies but didn’t see anyone dare to go over the grave yard and check. I had no idea how I got the courage, I left a message to the person who posted the picture and got the direction. It was ‘nowhere’, couldn’t even find the spot on GPS. However, I followed my instinct and finally got there. When I arrived, I was stunned and feeling so hopeless. The grave yard was so big that I didn’t know where to start seeking the pups. Maybe it was God’s will, after I searched over an hour, I finally spotted Lydia and her sibling lying next to a big grave stone. They were so tiny and skinny. When they saw me coming, amazingly, they ran toward me with happy wagging little tails. Immediately I handed them fresh food and water. They were thrilled to swallow everything in a second. After the feast, I put them in a crate and took them out of the spooky place.

Not surprisingly, they both got many ticks and fleas all over their tiny bodies. The Vet gave them necessary shots and cleaned off all the fleas. Under a month medical care, Lydia and her sibling gained back weight to what they were supposed to be. The rough life seemed not to leave any trace in them. They are happy and cuddly.

Lydia was born with a sweet nature. She is so friendly and mellow to meet most of creatures. She is very food motivated. Any one comes to her with treats will immediately becomes her buddy. Lydia also does very well with dogs. She is playful and easily merging into a gang. In fact, she likes to follow what other elder dogs do. That helps her learning commends easily at foster home. Lydia is also very good with foster cat. I guessed she thinks cats and dogs are same friendly creatures. However, if she overhears some strangers coming at the door, she’ll bark for warning. After she meets the strangers coming inside the house, she will initially come forward to make friends and check if there is any ‘treat’ for her. A naïve sweet pup like Lydia deserves a loving home. She is housebroken outside and inside on a potty pad, not a barker and with a clean bill of health.
