Millie the Dog needs a home
Say Hello to a Pixie Mamas Star Foster! Please meet Millie! She is about 5 years old, 45 pounds and one heck of an English Bulldog! Millie came from a puppy mill but slowly and surely that life has been erased from her memory and she is now a full fledged pet! Millie has had a rough time here in rescue but she’s now all fixed up and ready to start her new life as a best friend.
When Millie first came she had aspiration pneumonia after her spay. She was treated but it kept reoccurring. After many vet visits and specialists it was determined that Millie had what’s known as brachycephalic syndrome. This is where the nares are to narrow, their palates are too long and their trachea is stenosed (not uncommon in short nosed dogs.) There is a lot of information about this on the internet - please do some research! This caused Millie to have a hard time eating as food particles would end up in her lungs and she would develop pneumonia. We took Millie to Cornell Vet Hospital where she had the surgery to correct the issues. Millie is full of life and energy now and her only restriction is that she MUST be hand fed meatballs. The meatballs are her dry food mixed with canned about the size of a golf ball. This will be easy for her to swallow and prevent choking. Once she eats it is suggested she doesn't’t do any crazy playing for about ½ hour to prevent vomiting. She will need the meatballs for the rest of her life, this is not something that will change or improve over time so you must be willing to commit to this for her lifetime. Millie is a high energy bulldog, she loves to play, she loves walks and she loves to be outside. She can be a bit destructive so she has to be watched at all times but she is crate trained for when you go to work or cannot monitor her. She is super social and loves everyone she meets and after a slow introduction does well with other dogs. She is housebroken but expect accidents during the adjustment period of a new home. Millie is good with cats and kids who will be ok with being jumped on to give lots of slobbery kisses. She does have a torn ACL but it doesn't’t bother her in the least and both vets that saw Millie did not recommend surgery as its causing her no pain and she is such a big anesthesia risk so its just being monitored and trust me she can run around the yard like a champ. If you think you can provide the care that Millie would need please apply.
Millie is fully vetted, tested neg for heartworm, flea/worm treated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $475 - please apply online if you are interested!
