Adopt a German Shepherd Dog / Mixed
Claudia the Dog needs a home
CLAUDIA is a cruelty seizure who was taken in by Animal Control when she was found starving, dehydrated, and with no shelter from the weather. During Intake, she also tested positive for Heartworm.
Temperament
Claudia is a sweet little girl who LOVES her people. She is learning basic manners and the first one she had to practice was waiting at baby gates or backyard fences. She wanted to follow her person so much she showed that she could easily climb a fence to go sit next to her person on the other side! Until she is completely trained, she will need full time supervision in the backyard to avoid escaping.
Claudia is learning kennel manners and was much happier once she discovered kennels come with nice soft beds! She will groan a bit when put in her kennel but then settles down and waits to be released. She is learning quickly and is proving to be quite a sweetheart with a nice balance of patience and energy.
Other Animals
She gets along well with other dogs which is good because this little girl has some energy to burn. Her current foster home has one large dog and 2 small dogs. She is very excited to play and plays nicely even with the dogs a quarter of her size. Occasionally, she doesn’t notice when the small dogs tell her they are tired and she must be reminded by her human, fortunately she takes correction easily and is willing to go inside and let the other dogs rest.
Claudia has amild-moderate small prey drive, and should not be in a home with cats.
Kids
Claudia has not yet been tested with kids.
Medical
Claudia is currently undergoing treatment for Heartworm, but has no other known health issues.
DOGS: Does well with large and small dogs! (currently lives with a large and a small dog)
CATS: No
KIDS: Not tested yet
IDEAL FAMILY: An active family with good canine leadership abilities.
If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable furball
who will love you forever,
Claudia may be your ideal family member!
CLAUDIA'S ADOPTION FEE: $300
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so o
