Adopt a Boxer / Bulldog (short coat)
Linc the Dog needs a home
Linc came from Stockton last year on September 6. He was skinny and had horrible skin condition that was later diagnosed as sebaceous adenitis. He was also diagnosed with luxating knee caps that was cutting into his ligaments and an injury to Achilles tendon. With the help of West Coast Boxer Rescue volunteers and supporters he went through surgery for his knees and stem cell therapy for Achilles and surgical sites which also helped heal his skin. It took weeks to see improvements for his skin, but the change has been nothing short of being awesome.
Linc is an amazing dog - a perfect gentleman. He is great with other dogs, sweet, calm, gentle and walks nicely on leash for the most part. He is even ok with cats. He loves people and loves to be pet. Linc is probably about 2 years old and weights about 48 lbs.
Because of his skin condition, he needs a rub down with olive oil/water solution, let that sit for 1-2 hours, then a bath to wash that off every 1-2 weeks. He also has eye issue and needs eye medication administered few times a day.
Following items need to be considered if you are interested giving him a forever home (medical is covered for foster home):
- His knees and Achilles has healed and he has been given a clean bill of health by his surgeon.
- His tear production isn't good. He will need eye ointment few times a day for the rest of his life probably.
- Sabaceous adentitis is an autoimmune disease. This is only the 3rd case this has been treated with stem cell, oldest case being 2011.
- It is likely that he may need future stem cell dose. Because there are only 2 cases prior we don't know how often. The case that is recorded with VetStem utilized stem cell once every 1-2 years.
- There is an annual stem cell banking charge with Vet Stem. You can read more about it here: https://www.vet-stem.com/cellbanking/
- Each treatment of stem cell is going to cost around $500, depending on the veterinarian. There is one dose left at VetStem.
- After the remaining 1 dose, the stem cell need to be re-cultured with one-time fee of $750 - $1000 (may require additional cost from your vet).
- There are ways to manage sabaceous adentitis without the stem cell.
