This dog requires lots of mental or physical stimulation as well as an active lifestyle to be happy. Her intelligence and energy need to be channeled or she will create her own outlet for them. Variety is the spice to life and there are too many wonderful things in the world to stay focused on just one, unless it is REALLY interesting. There is nothing in the world that is scary to this dog. New places and new people are treated like she has known them her whole life. She can be very affectionate and will often show it, but isn't overly pushy about getting attention. She likes to be close to you as much as possible, but seems to know when you want to be left alone.




Barbie was a companion to a man who had diabetes and kidney failure and wasn't very mobile. She was pampered and given lots of love. A few years later another dog joined the family. She didn't seem too happy at first but eventually became friends with the other dog though she started to show territorial behaviors. Several years after that a baby came into the family and attempts to be territorial over toys and started developing anxiety around children. She has been unhappy for a while and now her owner has passed. Recently in one of her attempts to "guard" a random shoe, she nipped at the other dog which started a fight which potentially could have killed her due to differences in size. For her safety and happiness a new home is being looked for. She has plenty of energy and loves to play. Being pet and cuddled are enjoyed, just no kissy noises please. She also loves to be talked to like a baby, being brushed and wearing clothing. She knows how to sit or lay down, spin, jump, and fetch. If you say "get it" excitedly and point she will hunt flies or pull up dandelions. If you say "knock it down" and point at a bottle she will knock it over (Why was this taught? I don't know.)
