Adopt a Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Tupac arrived at 11th Hour Rescue in June of 2017. We discovered that he was fearful because he had been mistreated by humans before he was rescued. He was fortunate to find a foster home with people who were experienced in dealing with scared dogs like Tupac.

Tupac was renamed Toby and in his foster home he has been learning to trust people again. We feel that Toby needs an experienced Jack Russell/Rat Terrier owner who can help him continue to trust people – he needs a strong, confident adopter.

Foster mom feels that Toby's ideal home would be an adult household. He also needs to have a fenced in yard where he can spend time outdoors, doing what he loves – sniffing for chipmunks although he never, ever digs. Toby loves to go for walks and for rides in the car but he also likes to take afternoon naps resting on the couch in the sun.

Toby sleeps all night in his crate – he will burrow under blankets and sleep in there, you can barely see him. He also goes into his crate to have some "alone time". He also likes his privacy when eating. Toby does not bark either – he’s as quiet as a mouse!

Toby is a very obedient boy who listens very well plus he’s completely housetrained with no accidents or chewing issues. He “asks permission” to go up on the couch, but once up there he needs his own space. He is not a cuddly little lap pet, but he will give kisses on his own terms.

EHR is looking for that needle in a haystack, an adopter who will be patient with Toby and help him overcome his fearfulness. He has come such a long way in his foster home & we would like to see him continue his progress.
