Adopt a Domestic Short Hair / Mixed

"Reggie" has had a hard life. This ~3 year old was trapped during TNR in November, neutered, vaccinated and released again. But Reggie turned out to be very friendly and did not belong or know how to cope with life outside. He was likely an abandoned house cat, given how social he is.

Reggie was getting beat up all the time by the feral cats in the area. He was covered in wounds, both old and new. You could feel the scabs under his fur while you pet him.

One day Reggie's feeder noticed a large wound on his belly while he was rolling around on the ground. TNR Utopia was able to get him into a carrier and to the vet. Reggie was a great patient! His wound was cleaned out while under anesthesia and is healing (although it doesn’t look pretty). At the vet it was also discovered that Reggie is FIV positive.

The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to many other infections. Once adopted and kept inside with regular vet care, cats with FIV can live long and happy for many years.

A few weeks later Reggie's wound was not looking too good. Surgery to remove the infected tissue was suggested. On December 22 Reggie was operated on successfully. He did not love life with a cone and looked forward to those supervised times each day we would take it off him... :-)

On Friday, January 5 Reggie had his staples removed! The wound on his belly is completely healed and he is now ready for a forever home.

Still, through all these hardships, Reggie remains a happy cat who loves the company of people. He is a sweet 10 lbs cat with not a bad bone in his body. He is excited to see you come and try's to stop you from leaving. He loves to be brushed and purrs loudly. Reggie loves to jump on the bed to be next to you. Overall he just loves the company of people.
