Adopt a American Bulldog / Mixed (medium coat)

Mitchell is a special dog who arrived as a stray with a very swollen face. He underwent a long treatment (including medication, x-rays and surgery) to fix an injury on his handsome mug. Mitchell has exuberance for life with an abundance of energy and loves a large amount of space. Shelter staff identified that he required specific training needs to help him find his forever home. He is one of the first candidates to participate in Animal Services'' new Board and Train Program . Mitchell went to boot camp to work on basic manners, gain better skills with other dogs and help teach him to remain calm and comfortable in a range of different situations. Mitchell is still working on his social skills when meeting other dogs but has improved through the positive re-inforcement training he has received.

Here is some of the feedback from his trainers:
`Mitchell can get very excited and doesn''t know his own strength and size. Mitchell loves to play fetch, share his toys for a treat and invites the opportunity to continue play. He loves to play with other female dogs of similar play style and size. Mitchell would benefit from regular training sessions in both private and class settings. He would also benefit from monitored interaction with other dogs in a safe, secure environment. He has done very well keeping his focus on his handler and not reacting to other dogs walking by in our training hall and outside on walks. Our staff absolutely loves Mitchell and his happy, goofy personality. Mitchell will do amazing in a home environment; he tries very hard to be a good boy. He loves attention and affection`.
