Health: Dixie Doodle has been spayed and microchipped. She is current on her DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. She has been wormed and flea treated, and tested negative for heartworm.

History: Dixie Doodle comes from an overcrowded shelter in California. PUP was asked to help and we are so glad we did. All dogs PUP pulls from California come with health certificates, as required by Washington state.

Notes from Dixie Doodle's Foster Home:

Dixie is a generally friendly, adaptable dog who is eager to please.  She loves high-energy play with other dogs, and will run and tussle with gusto, but settles down when play time is over and will curl up on a bed or roll on her back for belly rubs.  She enjoys walks and has decent leash manners; she will occasionally bark at other dogs that she runs across but not in a threatening or vicious manner.  She is doing well on her housetraining and, kept to a schedule, has become more dependable about doing her business outside.  Dixie is a dream in her crate – although she does not go in willingly, once inside she doesn’t make a peep.  She is just starting to learn commands and seems eager to do what you ask; she learned how to “sit” in about three minutes, and is coming along with knowing to “wait” to eat treats put in front of her.  Dixie takes some time to warm up to new people, and while she was friendly to her foster mom’s husband initially, she seems to have developed a fear of him in the two weeks that she’s been in foster.  Her foster isn’t sure if it’s because he’s male, or because he’s tall, or what exactly is causing this fear, but any males in Dixie’s adoptive home will need to take it slow with her and allow her to warm up at her own pace.  All in all, Dixie is a sweet dog with a few issues, but with a lot of love and patience, she will settle in and become a wonderful addition to the right family.

Note: The above description reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. Although PUP provides adopters up to the minute information on our dogs, we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners.
