Hi! I’m Redford! Here’s a few things my fosters would like to share with you. I am a herder: that means that I am intelligent, stubborn, and have very high energy levels. I would do best somewhere with a large yard (be warned… I have a reputation as an escape artist) or an active person. I was neutered as an adult, so I will occasionally mark in the house, though this seems to wear off once I am comfortable in my settings (intervention has been working moderately well, took about a week). I am not a huge fan of baths, but I will endure them (though you might end up taking one as well). I am okay with meeting new dogs—if the other person can keep their dog from being too forward, and you are prepared for me to possibly pull on my leash. If they are off-leash or too “intimate,” I can get a little stressed. I do live with 3 cats and I mostly want to play with them, but I am learning my boundaries and to give them their space. I am getting better about not chasing cars on walks (log trucks not so much…), though I still try to jump at parked cars sometimes. I do pull on the leash, but using a harness helps a lot (Chewy has the “Sporn” harness for $9). I am selectively food motivated (might just need better treats? Mostly on walks). I sometimes bark at other cars while on a drive, but will stop if you ask me to. “What are you doing,” “Not for dogs,” or a sharp “Hey” are usually enough to deter me from most of these behaviors (reassurance, praise, and treats for cars and dogs unless I get too excited). Please know that I am working on all of these things, and with a consistent, patient and loving individual, I am confident I will succeed.

If you have made it this far, they also want you to know that for all the things I need to work on, I am absolutely worth it. I am an amazingly chill dog (despite my energy) with a very sweet personality, and as I settle in and work with people, I make small improvements each and every day. I will sleep in my crate at night (and will tuck myself in if you put a blanket over me!), and will stay off furniture unless I am invited (but I will try!). I do know “sit,” “paw” (sometimes I respond better to “shake” - I know synonyms!), and “lie down,” and am working on “wait”. Just get to know me a little bit and you’ll see how awesome I really am. J
