This handsome fellow is Cal! He is a 2 year old neutered male doberman, who is fully grown weighing at about 65#.  He was owner surrendered to a rural shelter in south Texas, and made his way up here pretty much skin and bones and seriously neglected.


A few weeks in foster care has done WONDERS for him! He has learned some house manners, and is now kennel trained, he has also learned his sit command. We are starting on leash manners, though I am pretty sure Cal lived chained for awhile because he pulls like a FREIGHT train currently. We are working with a Halti! He is great with his foster siblings who are around his size or larger. He does not appreciate VERY small dogs or cats! He loves to bash around an play! 


Cal's adoption fee is $250.00 and goes to cover the vetting he has received. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and heart worm negative. If you are interested in adding Cal to your family please go to www.texasgreatdane.org and fill out the application there.

SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas. 

 

Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.

 


Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease.

All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative, leash and collar, and a 30-day trial of 24PetWatch Pet Insurance. 

Adopters will also receive a Petco Pet Parent Savings Books that contain:

• $100s in savings plus a coupon for a free 6 lb. bag of WholeHearted dog food.

• Thoughtful care tips.

• Online resources and support.

 


 

Our adoption events are held each Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio, TX 78232.  Event hours are typically 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If your adoption application is approved and you are traveling from out-of-town, we hold your chosen pet for one hour past the event start time to allow for travel time.

 

We do try to schedule bi-monthly meet-and-greets in Austin as interested is generated.

 


 

We are an all-volunteer organization and do not currently have the resources to process out-of-state adoptions.

 


 

Our puppies, purebred dogs, and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so we encourage interested parties to apply online.
