Adopt a Schnauzer / Mixed (medium coat)

Schnauzer / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Valentine the Dog needs a home

We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express.  All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.

* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue

Valentine is a 1 year old Schnauzer mix. She weighs about 30lbs. She's bigger than she might look in the pictures. She's a true medium size dog.  She is a non-shedding dog but she may not necessarily be an option for those who have true allergies. She does have a mix of the Schnauzer and wire coat.

Valentine was a rescue from the shelter. She was completely shut down and hid in the corner and didn't respond to anyone. Our volunteer saw her and the shelter staff kind of dismissed her saying, "She's probably not going to get adopted..." Well, that's all it took. We know a challenge when we see it. So she came home to her foster home and low and behold within about 3 days we had a completely different dog. She was running up and greeting people at the door. She was wagging her tail whenever her foster family would come in the room. She was cuddling and snuggling with her people.

Valentine currently lives with dogs. She gets along with big and little dogs. She loves everyone. It was most likely the dogs in the foster home that helped her blossom so much. She also lives with a dog savvy cat. She couldn't care less about the cat.

Valentine is not a nuisance barker. It was several weeks before we ever heard her bark. And when she did it was for good reason. Valentine could be an option to go to work with Mom or Dad. She could live in an apartment or condo setting. She's quite versatile.

Valentine is best suited for a home that has had experience with dogs. If there are kids they need to be over the age of 8.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
