Adopt a Shepherd / Mixed (short coat)

Meet our adorable boy, Junior.

Junior is one of the puppies in our Hee Haw litter.  Mama, Minnie Pearl, had her litter of nine shepherd mix puppies under a neighbor's trailer home.  This turned out to be a good thing, when that home owner agreed that the puppies needed to be rescued, not left to try to survive in the dirt.  Mom was emaciated and could not raise the litter without help.  

This is where Take Me Home Rescue Volunteers jumped in to help feed and care for the puppies along side Minnie Pearl.

The babies have now been weaned and are ready to find Forever Homes of their own.  Junior is one of 4 males in the litter and he has turned out to be one of the sweetest. 
 

Junior is loving his time in a foster home with his sister, Daisy Mae.  He is learning to run in the backyard with the "big boys" in the home and he is coming into his own dog.  He is going to make a fabulous member of the family.

Leaves are his favorite thing to chase and chew on, but making a victor lap around the yard perimeter is his way of being cute.  He's super smart; already coming when his name is called, and likes to stick by your side if something scary is near. 

He has no issues with a crate, but hasn't had the door shut all the way yet.  Potty training has been a breeze with this guy, he potties on wee pads (usually if he's in the play pen), but he much rather go outside to handle his business.  He'll go to the door quickly, or whine when he's in his play pen area. 

He's such a lover too, and just loves everyone.  He makes the cutest little whining noise when he eats, like he's singing to his food.  He loves hoof, antler, and tough rubber toys to chew on. 
 

For our puppies, we require someone home more than not.  Whether it is a stay at home parent or a work from home parent . . . these babies need lots of love and training throughout the day.  We are looking for kids who are old enough to understand puppy behavior and are experienced in handling a small animal carefully and respectfully.
