Adopt a Dachshund (medium coat)

Johnny came into rescue one of the most scared dogs we've ever seen, but 
each day he is improving 150%. After found wandering with his buddy for who knows how long
, 
he was rescued and made his way to us. John would be a great dog for a family with kids. He also really likes having dog siblings, so he would be a great addition to a house that has a dog, especially one that wants a friend to play with. 

He has a wiry golden curly coat, 
a little bit 
poodle like
. He's taller than your typical doxie, but at 13 lbs., he's small and light and really easy to pick up and snuggle with. Johnny loves to PLAY - with toys, dog or kids. He's still very young and active and will chew on things you might not want him to, so it's best to make sure he has plenty of dog approved items. John learned the doggy door on day 1 and will happily use it to go outside for play time and to do his business. He is 100% potty trained. John is very open to meeting new people. He'll act a bit skittish if you approach him first, but if you let him come to you, he loves to get pets and attention. He has warmed up to me most of all since I am his main caregiver, so I know that with a little patience, he will be completely open to a new forever family
. Due to his energy level and youth, he will need daily activity. He's good on leash and enjoys exercise. I
f you can't walk him daily, he will happily run around and play in a backyard. He stays in a crate when I am not home, and will sleep in his crate at night. He is food and treat motivated, which helps get him to do things you ask. 

This is a really great dog who obviously had a rough start to life, but he has so much capacity to love and trust. He's willing to give you a chance if you just get to know him. The right family will be so incredibly happy they didn't overlook this sweet soul.
