Adopt a German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed (short coat)
Jemma Gabbey the Dog needs a home
Thank you Gabbey Family!
"My family and I picked up our Joyful Rescues schnauzer/spaniel mix, Cosmo (now star of stage and screen!) the first of week of May 2016, three weeks after our beloved dog Harold d ied. He recently starred as TOTO in Penfield High School's production of The Wizard of Oz! Our Joyful Rescue is one of the best decisions our family has ever made – Cosmo has truly been a wonderful friend and member of our family. For the holiday season, we thought that the best way to truly celebrate was to sponsor a transport on my family’s name. All four of our dogs (and our cats over the years) have come from various rescue organizations, and everybody in the Gabbey family recognizes the importance of animal rescue groups, and the dedication it takes to provide love and comfort for these amazing dogs and cats. My parents have owned three schnauzers – Daffy, Darby and Daisy – and my brother’s dog, Alvy, was a part of the family until he died this past summer at the amazing age of 16! My brother’s wife was the long-time director of the Baltimore, Maryland ASPCA, and continues animal volunteer work in Savannah, Georgia, so dogs are very near and dear to all our hearts. The “ Gabbey ” transport will hopefully not only save wonderful and loving animals, but also spread as much happiness to as many families as possible. We want adoptive Joyful Rescue families to have as much love and fun with these rescue animals as we have had with Cosmo." ~ Paul Gabbey
Huge thanks to Paul Gabbey and his Cosmo for such a generous, life-saving donation!
Jemma was born about April 14, 2015 and weighs about 45 lbs. She is wonderful with all of us and the other dogs, really nice girl! Jemma is BUSY and needs lots of stuff to do in life. She races around with the other dogs and like most GSPs she is very smart and if not entertained enough she can be destructive. She is wonderfully social, loving and good with kids. She is also very snuggley in the evening once she has played the day away. She needs older kids (so she won't knock them down) and dogs with a safe place to race around (fenced yard) and FUN in her next life! Jemma is good on leash. This is all we know so far as the staff at the high kill shelter feels asking questions embarrasses the previous owners as the reason for surrender is so often financial. We will be learning as we go and so will you.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $325.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
