Adopt a American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat)

Sampson is a big, 93 lbs, beautiful sweet boy. It is with great pain in our hearts that we have to find a new home for our beloved 5yr old Sampson (aka Sam, Sammy). Sam is a great dog, super intelligent, house trained and professionally trained by a dog trainer. He knows all the basic commands and he's HW negative. He's a lot of fun to be around, playful and he just wants to be near you to get some good old loving. Sam also loves a good tug of war and a nice walk in the park. Sampson came into our life when his owner/trainer brought him to us to stay for a few days while he went out of town for business, about a year ago. He never came back for him and after numerous attempts to reach him he finally called and signed Sampson over to us. We fell in love with Sampson but our efforts to have him integrate with the rest of our animals (dogs and cats) did not work out as we soon found out that Sammy has a prey drive for smaller animals and therefore cannot be placed in a household that has cats and/or smaller dogs. He really would prefer to be the only pet in the household and although he seemed to do well with the bigger dogs (70 pounds and up), we are just not sure how he would fare when left unsupervised with them. We are looking for a great local home for this great dog that has stolen our hearts. We are heartbroken we have to re-home him but living in our basement for the rest of his life is not fair to him and it's not the quality of life he truly deserves. Temperament: Gets along with bigger kids, possibly larger dogs but no small dogs or cats. Better as an only dog.

Training: Housetrained, crate-trained, good on leash

Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative
