Adopt a Rat Terrier (short coat)
Livi the Dog needs a home
Livi is a 13 yr old Rat Terrier mix that was surrendered to the local shelter with her puppy son. Livi has all the hallmarks of being used as a breeder dog and is sweetly shy initially, but warms up quickly. Of course, her puppy was adopted quickly, but seniors often get overlooked, and that Livi has spent her entire life in one home only to be discarded in her later years, makes transitions difficult for her at first. We see this happen all too often with senior dogs who have been loyal to their owners for most of their lives. We would love to see Livi come out on top with a second chance forever home that will cherish her for the rest of her life. Livi is otherwise healthy and has several years left to give. We would like them to be filled with love and patience and we know that special home is out there. We do recommend a home that is on the quieter side, where Livi can cultivate her lap pet skills.
Livi is current on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. She is current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

Dog Adoption Application
Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).
**
Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.
