Observations with Dogs: Good. Playful and a tendency to be dominant.

Observations with Kids: Only recommended for children over the age of 13.

Crate Training Progress: Mostly quiet if he has enough exercise. Otherwise can exhibit some anxiety, barking, and whining.

Additional Information: Frantz is new to City Dogs Rescue. At the moment we are only considering applications from experienced German Shepherd Dog applicants. Like most GSDs Frantz needs a lot of mental stimulation and a "job" to be a happy dog. He had a resource guarding incident that resulted in a minor bite. He has since been in daycare and has done very well. Aside from this incident he has been a great boy, active, and looking for an adopter or foster who can provide the environment he needs to be successful.

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.  
Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. 
Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.

We do our best to disclose all health records and known health conditions to adopters. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations and health tests, but does not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR & CK.  City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
