Adopt a Keeshond (long coat)
GINA the Dog needs a home
Gina, Katie and Madi, adorable eight year old siblings, were born and raised in a loving home, where they lived happily until they faced a lifestyle change when their owner passed away in September 2016.
Gina and her sisters were surrendered to Santa Maria Valley Humane Society (SMVHS), a no kill adoption center in September. Southern California Keeshond Rescue, Inc. (SCKR) welcomed the bonded trio into our rescue program on November 22, 2016.
In preparation for permanent placement, Gina, Katie and Madi were examined by our veterinarian and treatments for medical issues were provided. Madi and Katie, Gina's sisters, were placed together in April 2017. Gina is not currently available for adoption. Gina has completed extensive veterinary evaluation/treatments and continues to receive veterinary treatment for dermatitis, a persistent skin inflammation. Gina has undergone tests and various treatments for dermatitis and her condition has improved. She is prescribed Atopica to control itchy skin. Gina was examined by a veterinary specialist-dermatology and new medication was prescribed. Gina underwent allergy testing and will start allergy therapy (immunotherapy) based on the allergy test results.
Gina is not available for adoption at this time. She will not be available for placement until her skin inflammation issues are resolved.
Please note: We follow up on our adoptions, provide our adopters with lifetime support, and take our dogs back at any time if the people are unable to care for them. This is our commitment to our dogs and our adopters. To make this level of support possible, we must place our dogs within driving distance for our volunteers in Southern California.
