From the Foster:
I'm not sure how Princess Ruby ended up in that shelter down in Oklahoma, but one thing is clear, someone loved Ruby. They cared for her the best they could and they showered her with some of the finer things in life: 1. Ruby is an all-pro snuggler. She loves to be close to her people and genuinely thinks she's the only dog on earth and everyone is there to please her. She would do well as a single dog or with other senior or otherwise low-key dogs. She is fearful of large or energetic dogs. 2. Ruby walks perfectly on leash, directly at your side, checking in approximately every 5 seconds. I reward this attentiveness with praise and occasional pets to encourage her to continue. 3. Food should come from the fridge, not a bag. After a short stand-off, we compromised on a high-quality frozen diet. Unfortunately, Ruby's previous person did not take proper care of her teeth. This, in addition to breed tendencies, has led to all of Ruby's teeth needing to be removed. So she will remain on wet food for the rest of her life. 4. Ruby is house trained. She cannot make it for an 8 hour day, so would require someone who can come home at lunch or has a dog walker or caregiver who can let her out after 4 - 6 hours. Her signal is very subtle though and she does require company when she’s goes out – standing in the doorway is not good enough! If you miss her signal or don't go out with her, she will find a place in the house. I've worked with her on a schedule and watch closely for her signal in between times and that's gone fabulously, I would just expect some accidents at first until you get to know one another. 5. One other thing about Miss Ruby is that she does have a heart condition that requires semi-annual visits to a special vet for an echocardiogram. Currently, Ruby’s heart murmur is grade 3 and does not require medication, but it will worsen over time and then medication will be required. It’s important that Ruby’s forever family have the financial means and stability to manage her condition without compromising their other obligations. I have priced out options and am happy to help give you an idea of cost.
Everyone who has met Ruby has called her just the sweetest little dog they've ever met. If you are ready for some adorable cuddles and love, please consider adding Tiny Ruby to your family.
