Brandi epitomizes a diamond in the rough. Her foster Mom considers her almost perfect, and advises Brandi will need special care with lots of love. Even though she has a general mistrust of humans (for a good reason), in the six weeks she’s been in her foster home she is coming out of her fear and shyness. It has been heart-warming watching her blossom in a loving environment. Her forever home will need to be with someone who is patient, and once Brandi’s settled into a safe environment, she has the potential to be the best fur baby ever, with a playful nature beginning to emerge. Vision-impaired Brandi is emotionally dependent on Simka, who is blind. Keeping track of Simka brings out Brandi’s motherly traits, and she stays close to who she considers to be her ward. Because of this relationship, the two need to stay together in their forever home. Brandi has excellent potty habits are great as long as she’s kept on her schedule. Extra large piddle pads are used as a back up, and 90% of the time she hits the piddle pads dead center. Unlike most Italian Greyhounds, Brandi does not burrow into blankets, so to keep her warm her foster Mom keeps clothes on her. She can be a bit nervous when the coats are put over her head and doesn’t like the noise of Velcro, but has shown signs of improvement as dressing has become part of her routine. Because of her limited vision, Brandi has been learning voice commands. “Up,” “down,” and “stop” are helpful when going outside to relieve herself. She has a clean bill of health, and gets a glucosamine supplement on the vet’s recommendation to help ward against future arthritis. Brandi does not appear to be affected by other dogs or cats, and does not show any signs of aggression against other household pets. Overall, a calm household is ideal for Brandi and Simka to settle in with their forever family.
