A5112589 Herman | Pit Bull/German Shepherd

A5112589 Herman is a playful 3-year-old rust-and-chocolate neutered male Pit Bull and German Shepherd mix who was found as a stray in Covina and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on September 19th. He was subsequently adopted and returned about three weeks later: his adopters kept in the yard around-the-clock without walks or other stimulation, and he became jumpy and excitable. Herman is a great dog who we believe needs a chance with adopters who understand that ANY dog needs attention, exercise, structure, and affection in order to thrive.

Weighing 60 lbs, Herman has a goofy silliness--when we let him off leash in the play area, he loves to run around doing the zoomies. On leash, he has respectable manners and knows how to sit on command; we recommend additional training to help Herman feel like he has clear expectations. Given his athleticism, Herman would be an ideal companion for hikes or running--and we know he will also savor cuddling up with you at night. Herman sailed through his shelter-administered temperament test, which comes as no surprise given what a fun, gentle, happy, and loving boy he is. He gets along well with other medium- and large dogs (we haven't hard the opportunity to observe him around small dogs). Herman will be a fantastic best friend as an indoor companion in an active household that appreciates a good laugh, and we think he would also be a great pal to kids old enough to throw a ball for him.
