Monarch is about 4 years old and 60 pounds. She is very sweet and loving with humans. She loves to play with dogs and would love a playmate close to her own size or smaller. She thoroughly enjoys having another dog to pal around with and wants to find just the right fit for her new fur sibling. Plus, having another dog for her to hang with is good for her exercise regimen. 




Oh, what fun it is learning how to be a dog. Meal time is her favorite and she will often double check her bowl to make sure she didn't miss anything. Her hobbies include sitting on the back porch, sleeping, and playing with rope toys. She has discovered the kitchen garbage can and has determined that it can provide a midnight snack if it is not emptied each night.




Monarch has a very relaxed personality. She is really warming up to people and enjoys keeping tabs on her foster family. She is very concerned about where they are at all times. She is a very curious dog who loves to sniff around at everything. She is 99% house trained and does well letting her people know when she needs to go out in the middle of the night. She is not content in a crate, but she clearly does so well at being good while in the house. She is also learning commands for “sit and "outside".




She occasionally walks on a leash, but not every day, so needs a little more practice. She enjoys the freedom of a fenced in yard so she can roam and sniff around. She’s very quiet and only barks when alarmed.




Monarch has poor vision, yet she does very well when her eyes are cleaned and properly cared for reagularly. She is picking up on name recognition and due to her limited sight, her foster family is working on whistle and exaggerated hand motions to get her to obey/come. She is doing great!




This sweet girl is learning a lot about life in a home and cannot wait to find her furever home!

ADOPTION EVENTS:  




Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:





All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:





Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
