J'Adore the Dog needs a home
I am a well-mannered little guy who found myself in a bit of a pickle. My owners surrendered me to KC Pet Project and now I'm in the process of finding someone to love me. I'm a down-to-earth boy and, despite my French name, I don't require escargot or champagne, but I wouldn't turn down a bite of quiche (BOL!). I know how to "sit," "sit pretty," "jump," and I do a reluctant "down" (I'm still working on building up some enthusiasm for that one. . . ). Another thing that I'm particularly skilled at is burrowing under blankets! I just love to get myself all snuggled in under a comfy layer of softness.
I'm crate and housetrained and let you know I need to go outside by going to the door and whining. If that doesn't do the trick, I come back to you and then run to the door again. Basically, I'm not all too subtle about my needs -- doesn't take a mind reader to know when I need to do my business! I stay in a kennel anywhere from five to eight hours while my foster family is at work and I do just fine -- I never pass up the chance for a nice, leisurely nap!
I get along with my four-legged foster siblings, including a medium-sized dog, a small dog, and a cat. (Truth be told, I did bark once at the feline foster sibling, but it was when she jumped down from her perch almost on top of me. Geez, how rude!) I love to be loved, but I'm not crazy about being snuggled or held. Instead, I will get up on your lap when invited and, once I'm comfortable, I will offer my belly for a good rub. I don't try to hang out on the couch or chair, only on your lap. I like to play, but prefer human playmates over dogs. I find that dogs lack the opposable thumb necessary to perform a good toy toss!
My ideal home would be one without small children; they might take a liking to my food, bed, or toys and I'm not so fond of people or dogs messing with my belongings. I have been learning to be a better sharer though and we've been practicing trading toys, which is fun because I get to have a different toy if I share the one I have. Pretty awesome, no? If you have another dog at home, I think we could probably get along just fine. But I sure would like to meet him or her before we become roomies. It would also be a great idea to feed us in separate locations, just to make sure we keep getting along famously. Oh, and don't forget blankets. My new home would ideally have a few for me to burrow under! Do you have blankets?? Then we might just be a match!
