Adopt a Domestic Short Hair (short coat)
Ben the Cat needs a home
Ben is about five years old and showed up several months ago in rough shape as a neighborhood stray. He would eat the food we provided but kept his distance. After a couple of months, we earned his trust and were able to get him into a crate. The plan was to get him some veterinary help and return him to his life as a neighborhood cat. Ben obviously hadn't had an easy life. He was underweight, had fleas, earmites, ticks, a very thin rough coat, three bad teeth, and several old wounds in various stages of healing. A funny thing happened while Ben was recovering indoors from his neuter and dental work. He decided that people can be pretty amazing and that the life of a housecat is much easier than trying to make it as a neighborhood tomcat. He made it clear that he would happily retire from that life and just enjoy his comfortable bed and having his meals delivered every day. So, we decided that he deserves the chance to find just that. In the time in his foster home, he has become incredibly affectionate. He throws his arms around your neck for "hugs" while purring and rubbing his face on yours. He absolutely loves to sit on your lap and will stay there as long as you will. Ben has a mellow personality and only gets cranky when you are done giving attention and he isn't done receiving it. Ben has been friendly or indifferent to other cats and seems to have no fear of dogs. We look forward to Ben finding that family he would so love to have.
