Adopt a Cocker Spaniel / Shih Tzu / Mixed
J J the Dog needs a home
AVAILABLE FOR SPONSORSHIP AND/OR ADOPTION
J J's adoption donation is $175 and he is being fostered in Central Ohio. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and started on prevention. He is also on flea prevention.
J J is a special boy. He is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel - Shih Tzu mix and definitely looks very much like a Cocker Spaniel. He was an owner surrender with his mother, Pearl, who was adopted into her furever home last year. Both JJ and Pearl had not received a lot of vet care in the last couple years. The day after JJ came into rescue, he went into the hospital with pancreatitis and was also diagnosed with diabetes. He most likely had had this going on for quite awhile since there were a few days that were touch and go, but JJ pulled through and is doing very well in foster care! He was a bit chunky when he came into rescue, but he's lost a couple pounds and he's a very good boy for his daily insulin shots. JJ loves to be with his person and he's very well mannered. He will need a home that has a strong vet history, because he does require daily insulin shots, and he will need to stay on a low fat diet since he did have pancreatitis. His condition is very manageable, and his medication is not that expensive. His insulin costs about $20-25 a month. JJ loves to go for car rides and walks well on a leash. JJ is also blind from the diabetes but will follow you anywhere as he sees and loves with his heart. He loves to be with his person, so if you're looking for a sweet companion, JJ is your boy!
