Adopt a Golden Retriever (long coat)
Mac (Maku) #0619 the Dog needs a home
Mac – Male - 6 years old – GRRALL #0619
UPDATE 7/7/2017
Mac is doing well in his foster home. He's an easy going kind of guy and is a perfect gentleman in the home. We also learned he isn't bothered by fireworks or thunderstorms, lucky boy! He will make some lucky family very happy!
We recently learned Mac had an injury in the past that will require some surgery now. He tore his ACL in both back legs at some point and consultations with veterinary surgeons indicate he will need TPLO surgery in one knee now and likely in the other knee down the road. GRRALL will provide this for him, but we need some help with fundraising, as the surgery is rather expensive. If you are able, you may donate to his care via the link here:

Mac has been in a great foster home. However, after getting to know Mac better, we think he would do best with someone who is physically able to care for this big boy. At nearly 85 lbs, Mac is a big, strong guy, so he'll need a foster who can handle him, as well as a flexible schedule to take him to vet checkups and provide care related to his much needed surgery. If you are interested, please fill out a foster application here:

If you'd like to know more about the type of surgery Mac needs, this article provides a good summary:

###
Mac is a 6 year old classic golden boy; happy, well-adjusted, and very handsome. Mac’s owners passed away recently and our boy needs a new home where he will continue to be loved and cherished forever. Mac’s humans were retired and took excellent care of him; his health, exercise, grooming, and lots of car rides. He went to relatives but they don’t have the time to devote to Mac and want him to have the best life possible.
Mac is a big boy, about 85 pounds, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, and house-trained. He knows basic commands, is bilingual English/Japanese, and needs a refresher on leash training as he has not been walked on a routine schedule since his people passed away. Mac loves food, toys, naps, playing, walks, belly-rubs, is good with adults and with other dogs. He is reported to be good with children but hasn’t been around any kids recently. There is an outdoor cat at his foster home and Mac tries to play with the kitty; she runs and he chases in fun, at least for him.
Mac is a typical golden, he loves people and all things golden. He needs to lose a few pounds, and routine feeding time and walks will help with that, as will swimming if his new home has a pool. He does have the golden itchies so need to keep an eye on him to stop the licking. Mac will probably do best with people home most of the day who can shower him with attention, which will make him very happy.
