Adopt a Maltese (medium coat)
Jade the Dog needs a home
Please read this full bio carefully before emailing our rescue to ask questions. everything about Jade is in the bio including the home we are looking for her, etc...
We are an Edmonton Region rescue we only adopt our rescues in this area.
Jade is very appreciative of any attention and enjoys getting brushed and petted. She's friendly toward all people and no stranger when visitors come over. She's overcome with joy when we come home or when her harness and leash come out. She loves running through snow and although it's possible that this is the first year in her past 9 that she's gone on actual walks, she's a fast learner. She proudly wears her pink princess sweater-dress and prances on a relatively straight line.
Jade is fairly low maintenance once she knows you're there for her and she's loved. She often lays by herself, but likes her humans close by.
Regarding Barking:
There is some barking when we first leave, but she quiets down fairly quickly. She does enjoy alerting everyone of what is happening outside, but goes to lay down when we shut the blinds. She's not recommended for anyone sharing a wall with neighbours.
NO Condos, Apartments or Townhouses.
House Training
Jade is pee pad trained and doesn't know how to ask to go outside. She will pee and poop outside if put outside with other dogs.
She's surprisingly active and playful for a senior and whips up and down stairs no problem. She likes playing fetch with plush toys and "search" in which the dogs look for hidden treats.
She gets along with the other small dogs in the house, but will let them know if she wants her space.
She is not used to a kennel, so we have the pleasure of having her sleep between us. She's so happy to be there that we haven't had the heart to try a dog bed yet.
Since her dental surgery she's been on soft food and we are now introducing kibble back into her diet. She occasionally gets raw food to help clean her remaining teeth.

How it works to meet me:
1) Email my rescue to ask when their next meet and greet day is.
2) Tell my rescue about where you live your home, yard family, pets in the home? How long you work away from home? Is your home quiet or lots of visitors? This gives my rescue an idea if this would be a fit for me or not.
3) If our meeting goes well my rescue will send you an adoption application to fill out.
4) If your application is approved then a home visit will be set up with 2 volunteers within 2 weeks. Remember they are volunteers they are busy too.
5) Home visit once approved then your references are called.
If it all checks out next you are asked to sign up for dog obedience training classes. Please sign up with Joanna at For The Love Of Paws Dog Training.
6) Once training classes have been signed up for I get to come home with you.
Why all these steps you ask? This to ensure I am going to the right home for me and to protect me.
Adoption fee $500.00
