Description: ~~A5131560 Ginger is a bubbly and beautiful 3-year-old tricolor (tan, black, white) spayed female German Shepherd whose owner surrendered her to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center without giving a reason on November 20th. Weighing 55 lbs, Ginger has been deemed Rescue Only (with an indemnity waiver) by the shelter because of her behavior during a playgroup with other dogs. Other sessions of the playgroup and a meet-and-greet were different, but the label stands. For one outing, Ginger was puppyish when a volunteer approached her in her kennel to be leashed and taken out—she jumped up playfully and wiggled with eagerness. Once on leash, she walked well and, upon entering the playgroup yard, met Bella (a greeter dog, A5122918), exchanged sniffs, and went exploring rather than play. She also checked back in with her handler at various times. She’s intelligent and very much a working dog, so she needs a job! She also needs a chance to calm down outside the shelter in a secure and loving environment in order for anyone to see her true personality and behavior. We’re hoping that a rescue will step forward to claim this young, curious beauty so that she can become the indoor pet and companion she’s meant to be.
