Adopt a Shepherd / Mixed

Hi!

My name is Max and let me start by saying that had I known that life in a home was this sweet, I would have jumped into the rescuers arms the first time they came to feed me.  Life on the streets is rough even when you have humans coming to give you food. 

After being rescued I was taken to the vet so they could check to see if I had any medical issues.  Unfortunately, I did have heart worms, but I have completed treatment and am now good to go!

I love, love, love to go on brisk walks.  I do great on a leash – no tugging or pulling.  Sometimes I may meet a dog or a person that I do not feel comfortable about.  But, I remain calm in these situations and either wait until they have passed or turn around and go in the opposite direction.

I am a slim, laid back, chill guy.  Two days after moving into my foster home I was already chilling on the couch – so comfy!  My foster mom says I am a protector because I always stay close to her.  And, did I mention belly rubs – love them.  Even though I love chilling on the couch, I am also an outdoors guy.  In addition to walks, I like to play chase with the other dogs in my foster home.  I lucked out and was the first of my friends to be rescued from the streets and my foster mom is so amazing that she took in my buddies too!  We especially like to chase the squirrel when it comes into the yard.  Resting on the patio or the cool grass feels good after a hard day of playing. 

I've been training with foster mom and so far I have mastered stay, drop it and leave it.  Leave it is sometimes difficult if I should happen to get the scent of food on our walk. I have great house manners and am housetrained.  I should warn my new family to be prepared for my dreaming episodes.  My foster mom says she has never seen a dog dream as often as I do. 

To sum it up I am a chill, loving, appreciative, well-mannered fellow.  I would love to be with an active family.  One who will play with me, love on me and snuggle with me.
