Meet Jitterbug! Jitterbug is a 4-year-old retriever/shepherd mix ready to dance her way into your heart! This 55 lb cutie was found wandering with no home but will be coming to DC as soon as we can find her a foster or adoptive home!
She also would love to go to a fully fenced dog park to play with her buds! She would also do well on her own with a family to take her for long walks and/or runs. At 4-years-old Jitterbug is out of the puppy phase but that doesn't mean she won't need plenty of exercise!
Jitterbug has not yet been tested with cats or kids, but we can do that if you have a kitty or kiddies in the house. Like most shelter dogs, Jitterbug may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.
Jitterbug has tested positive and has been treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and her heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting Jitterbug, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Ashley at [email protected] asap!
