Rio the Dog needs a home
Rio, who was formerly known as Bimbo/Jimbo, was pulled from a high kill shelter after being on death row. He came to PPR with severe demodex mange (non-contagious form), and both bacterial and yeast infections of the skin, as well as completely shut down emotionally. Rio was treated with medicated baths, medications, and a good diet, until he was feeling better. Rio's fur has mostly filled in at this point and his skin is now healthy. You can see his progress at the various stages of his care via his photos. Rio has opened up to his foster family and is a very loving dog to them. He enjoys playtime. Rio is neutered, UTD with shots, microchipped, and tested negative for diseases such as Lyme's and heartworm. Rio was an owner surrender to the shelter, when his family moved and lived with kids and cats. He has not been around kids since coming to PPR. He is currently living with a small dog and cats in his foster home. He can be a cat-chaser at times, but he does not harm them. The cats tend to keep their distance. He has met some people and seems to be very friendly with them. His deep bark is alarming at first, but is his way of saying hello. He visits the dog park, goes on walks, and enjoys time outdoors. He is crate trained, learning leash manners, and doing well with housebreaking. He is on a grain free diet due to his past skin issues.
