Adopt a Husky / Siberian Husky (long coat)

Meet this handsome, bi-eyed/parti-eyed, expressive Sibe – TONKA! We saved Tonka from a high kill shelter in NC and he is currently being fostered in NC. Tonka arrived to the shelter as a stray and his owners did not come for him. Tonka loves both men & women and would do well as a side kick to any active person. Tonka is NOT cat friendly but gets along fine with other dogs.  He would prefer to be the center of attention. We would like to see him go to someone who has experience with working breeds or has done ample research and understands and can anticipate the stereotypical Husky. No young kids please. Tonka’s smile is as ornery as it is genuine and he’d love a home that would embrace his personality. He’s a big boy weighing almost 70lbs but does well on a leash. Tonka is 4 years old, neutered, current on vaccines and heartworm negative and in search of his forever home.  Tonka can be transported from NC to either MD or NJ but anyone applying to adopt him must be willing to pick up in one of those 3 states, if application is approved.

If this saying is not fitting for Tonka, I do not know what is. Tonka has had his issues since coming to me, but my gosh, you wouldn't know he was the same dog anymore. He is experiencing life in a house with love & structure for probably what is the first time in his life. When you think of Tonka, think of a puppy.... He loves learning new rules & boundaries, but equally loves breaking them just as much

Tonka is between 2 to 3 years old, neutered, UTD on all vaccines, hw negative & has been kept current on nexgard & heartgard plus!

Tonka does have seizures, & is on medication for them to keep them under control, so this is a must to be kept up on with whatever home he goes to. He is fully crate trained, & is housebroken. He does not destroy things, & is now very confident & comfortable when left alone. Loud noises do not scare Tonka like they do most dogs, however I always use caution.

No small animals, no cats, & I would have to say only older children who know how to act appropriately around dogs. He is not a dog that will like a child crawling all over him.

He has come so far With his leash manners since his arrival, he walks amazing with his Martingale collar & easy walk Harness on. He could go to a home with or without a securely fenced in backyard, so long as whoever adopts him is active & takes him on walks Regularly

Tonka is loaded with lots of personality & funny faces that will make you laugh to go with it. He really has become an amazing companion & just needs the right owner to compliment him.
