Adopt a Red Heeler / Mixed

~~ Are you looking for a beautiful, smart, devoted dog to join you on outdoor adventures?  Sweet Ava is just the dog you are looking for!  Her friendship and devotion can't be beat.     Ava Marie is a beautiful, young, red female with a high probability of being pure Australian Cattle Dog.  She was recently surrendered into rescue through no fault of her own and is loving and adapting well to the luxuries of indoor living.  She absolutely adores the people she has bonded with and just wants to be your constant companion.  She is very quickly learning house manners and is doing excellent with her crate and potty training.  She will signal at the door when she needs to be let out and has not had any accidents once established on a good schedule.

    Very true to her breed, she is extremely devoted and sticks to you like velcro.  She loves crawling up into her foster's lap and giving kisses.  She enjoys playing with toys, chasing balls and shows tons of potential for agility, obedience, fly-ball, disc and many other sporting activities.  She will require an owner experienced with herding breeds and their high energy/intelligence and understands the importance of being a pack leader, exercise, and the importance of continuing training/socialization to avoid any protective behaviors and maintaining good manners.  Ava does have a high drive but she settles down well in the home and is content to chew bones and cuddle.  She can test boundaries at times and have opinions about not always being included in everything but she overall is a really wonderful dog who just wants to please and takes verbal correction very well.  She has been doing great with the other dogs in her foster home after proper introductions.  She has on occasion tested the pack hirearchy and can be a more dominant personality in the dog pack but can and does play very well in a supervised group and has been very submissive to people.  She does not have any resource guarding behaviors and will do just fine with older, respectful kids.  Rowdy horse play can trigger herding behavior so a calm home is ideal.  Miss Ava does have a prey drive and will need a home without kitties.
