Khavo is an adorable little guy who makes us smile and just wants to please you. He is also a kissing booth all to himself, so if kisses aren’t your thing, he might not be your guy!

Khavo is still a youngster who would love and benefit from an obedience class or adopter(s) willing to show him the ropes. We are working on his playful mouthing, but expect his puppyish behavior will improve with age and training. He’s learning that his mouth is to retrieve, softly take food and gently take our hands. With time and patience he will be perfect.

For Khavo, obedience training had to take a backseat to a need for physical therapy. When first rescued from the county animal control facility, he was not really using his front leg (other than as a kickstand when he wanted to give you kisses). The shelter vet suggested amputation, but we had an idea to save it…SWIM THERAPY!

Khavo has completed 6 swim therapy sessions in just over a month and built up his shoulder and legs muscles very nicely. His old ‘kick stand’ (with toes turned down) – is now toes up and mostly on the floor. He is regularly putting weight on it unless he’s tired.

Needless to say, Khavo loves swimming these days – so a family with a pool or lake for him to use in warm months would be awesome. Until then, we have some at-home exercises to work on with him. His therapist believes Khavo will recover 75-80% use of the leg with continued therapy.

Khavo is destined to bloom into a very sociable and obedient pup, who is loved for many years.

Vetting: Neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative; needs minor physical/swim therapy

Traning: House and crate-trained; working on obedience
