Adopt a Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)
Lefty (SC) the Dog needs a home
I'm Lefty, a 15-lb. Rattie mix with somebody long and low (a Dachshund, perhaps?) in my family tree. Though I can't really remember how it happened, I found myself walking and wandering all alone in the big world. Where were my people? Nobody knew, so I was put in a shelter. When you're just 3 1/2 years old and sitting behind bars, you can get scared. Then when you wait and wait and your family never comes to take you home, you can get sad. You wonder if you've been a bad boy, but all of that changed when a stranger showed up one day and told me I was safe. Since then, I've loved every human I've met, and I get along with all my canine foster sisters. (Cats, on the other hand, are just critters, and I don't like 'em. 'Nuff said!) I'm house-trained and will bark when I want to go out. If I have to be left alone, I use a puppy play yard because I don't like crates (reminds me of the shelter days), but honestly, I've never gotten into anything in the house that's not my toy. However, I really don't like being alone and will bark for a while when my family goes out. When I'm outside in the yard, I try to help out by doing guard duty--patrolling the area and barking at cars passing by. I do enjoy playing, but my favorite thing would be just relaxing with you, maybe even sleeping in bed with you. You see, Lefty might have been left all alone once, but I promise I'll never leave your side.
