Adopt a Golden Retriever (long coat)
Sophie 740 the Dog needs a home
Charming Charity is six years old, and came to us from a shelter with a life-threatening pneumonia. Phenomenal veterinarians pulled her through, and generous readers of our Facebook page donated significant funds toward the cost of her care; we are forever grateful. Charity is now healthy and ready for her forever home.
She loves the outdoors… lying in the yard just chillin’, catching some rays, or swimming in the pool, sitting on its steps to stay cool.
For other exercise, Charity likes to amble around the neighborhood when no one is around, hoping she will encounter a rabbit she can try to chase it. Her leash skills are improving.
We don’t know anything about Charity’s past. We suppose some experience led to her unfriendly interactions with other dogs. Foster mom Cheryl chooses walk times when most other dogs are tucked in for the night because Charity becomes agitated, pulling on her leash, barking loudly, and making quite a fuss when she spots other dogs. Charity is working with a trainer to learn better interactions with other dogs, but at this time we will not place Charity in a home with other dogs. She prefers not to be around cats.
Charity loves her toys, rides in the car, and is learning to play fetch.
She is beginning to lose weight, is down to 97.5 pounds, but she is a big-boned girl, and will never be a swimsuit model. :)
Foster mom Cheryl says, ”Charity is a sweetheart. She sticks to me like glue, and is great with my 8- and 10-year-old grandchildren. She is a happy, sweet girl, and would love a home with a big yard, a swimming pool, and a snuggly bed.”
Wouldn't you love to welcome this special girl into your heart and home?

All GRRSWF dogs have undergone a full examination by a veterinarian, and any health concerns have been addressed. If you are interested in learning more about Charity, please contact us at [email protected], or you can read about our adoption process in detail and download an application from our website at http://www.grrswf.org/index-2.html
PLEASE NOTE: We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Ocala.
If you live OUTSIDE of our service area and are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please note that we will only consider an application for senior dogs (over the age of 8) or dogs with special needs (usually medication). BEFORE submitting your application, send an email to [email protected] to request an exception to our service area. If that approval is given, you will be asked to complete an application, clearly stating on it that you are interested in a special needs or senior dog. However, please be aware that, unfortunately, there are some locations we simply cannot cover because we do not have sufficient representation in those areas to perform the required home visits prior to the adoption, or follow-up visits afterward. If that is the case, we will be happy to refer you to a local rescue or shelter.
