Adopt a Dachshund (short coat)

UPDATE: Harvey is currently under the supervision of our behavioral trainer for the next 4 weeks to help him with his "protective" and "guarding" tendencies towards his owner. Stay tuned and check back on his progress!

HARVEY ~ Harvey is a handsome red 8 year old and 22 pound standard purebred adopted over 3 years ago. After much thought it was decided it was best for Harvey to find him a new home. He will stay in his current home until the right fit comes along. Harvey is said to be a special boy. A new baby in the family has made things stressful for him (and us) and we are hoping he can have a new owner that will give him the attention he deserves. He has a very loving personality. He would be best in a home without children or cats. He has gotten along with other dogs in the house before but it might take a little time to warm up.

He is very low maintenance and spends the majority of the day snoozing in the sun or at your feet. He is very protective of his home and caretakers and will bark and bite those who he thinks are intruding so he is probably best in a home with limited visitors or keep him in another room when visitors arrive. Whoever is interested in adopting Harvey would probably need to meet him a couple times so he gets familiar. We hope they would be patient with him since he is protective of his owners when they are around.

 

We are very committed to taking time to find him a new family and would love to still be involved in his life once his new family takes him in including helping out if they travel or go on vacation. I’d be willing to drive and pick him up so that he doesn’t go in a kennel or to save the new owner from having to worry about somebody watching him given his ‘special’ disposition. We have plenty of items to send along with him so the new owner would need nothing, including crate, crate pad, blankets, dog bed, dry food container, toys, etc.

He is up to date on vaccinations and ready to give and receive love. Are you ready to welcome him into your heart and home? Please complete an adoption application and schedule your home safety check so you are pre-approved.

If you are interested in meeting Harvey please indicate his name in the adoption application and a private meeting can be arranged. Harvey will not be attending adoption events.
