Located in Isle of Wight County, VA, Bully Advocate & Rescue Collective (BARC) is a local nonprofit dedicated to helping pit bull type dogs in small, rural shelters find good homes where they won?t have to worry about being used for breeding or fighting purposes. Focusing on the rural shelter of Isle of Wight County, VA, and in the near future of Franklin and Southampton County, BARC plans to sponsor the spaying/neutering of impounded pit bull type dogs before they are adopted out. Sponsored dogs will be brought up to date on their vaccines and also be microchipped and heartworm tested. BARC will also pull pit bull type dogs from the shelter who need more effort and training to become more adoptable. Through foster homes and our own small boarding facility, we hope to give these dogs the time they need to find their forever homes. When they are ready, we will take applications for their adoption and screen carefully to make sure they are well-placed. We ask for an adoption fee of $150, which covers some of the costs that we incur caring for each dog we take in. As a non profit rescue, we rely solely on donations from the public to continue to rescue needy dogs.
