The Gloucester County Animal Shelter opened it's doors in July 1990 as a public service provided by the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders. We provide both animal control services and animal shelter services to the twenty-four towns of Gloucester County. Our goals are to promote humane care and treatment of all animals, seek responsible, loving homes for animals, reduce pet overpopulation by encouraging people to spay and neuter their pets, provide lost and found services by reuniting pets with their families and to protect animals from cruelty and neglect. Our shelter handles in excess of 8,000 animals per year. We work closely with other local and state wide animal welfare organizations to better aid the animals in our county. We also operate 2 off-site adoption centers located in the Petsmart stores in Turnersville & Mantua, New Jersey. These sites are staffed completely by volunteers and result in over 600 animal adoptions each year.
