Conyers Animal Shelter

HARI is a new rescue. However, we are continuing the activities we did for another rescues, For Paws Sake, Inc., in our county. Lori and I have been in rescue for over 25 years combined. Lori has rescued all over the US and Peurto Rico while her husband was in the service. Lori is a teacher at a private school and takes her animals into the classroom. The kids are rewarded by being able to help her with bottle feeding and care of puppies and sick animals. It is just another incentive for learning. In her math classes they are taught to figure out doses for the animal and ozs to be fed. Dianne is retired and works for the animals as a full time job. She works very closely with the local Animal Control. Hometown is very active in raising funds for the local AC to provide Parvo, Distemper, and Bordatella shots for each animal that enters the Shelter. In that way we are lowering the breakout rate in the Shelter and once animals are claimed or adopted in the community. We hold monthly vaccine clinics with $10 shots for Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, Bordatella, and Feline Distemper. Micro Chips including registration are $20. We plan to implement a spay/neuter program in AC and for the public the beginning of next year. Why we do it? To improve the quality life and health of the animals in our community, thus improving the quality of life of the humans who live here. Our Mission statment pretty well says it. Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc is a group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, sanctuary and re homing of local stray and neglected dogs. We work in alliance with the local animal control to build an animal friendly community, encourage respect and compassion for all animals and advocate responsible pet ownership. Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc will accomplish this through educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter and general pet care and health. We will set the example of humane care and treatment through our rescue efforts and demonstrate pet owner responsibility we want current and future pet owners to emulate. It is our desire that other counties see the success of our network of supporters and volunteers and thus implement similar programs to benefit the animals and citizens of their own community.
