Lander, WY does not have an animal shelter, nor any other rescues. The police department takes any dogs they catch to a local vet who has a contract with the city. After a 5 day impoundment, the City of Lander pays for the animal to be euthanized. We try to avoid that happening by taking over the boarding fees for the dogs that have been impounded & then we get them vet care, training, grooming & find them a home. The city does not impound cats, so we take in cats that are brought to us by the public & pay the boarding fee & vet care expenses until we can get them adopted. There are no other options for these animals in Lander. That's why we do it.
