Manxalot Rescue

staten island Animal Shelter

576 Richmond Road
staten island, New York 10304
It is with sadness in my heart and tears in my eyes that I say I will be closing Manxalot Rescue. As of December 31, 2005, I will no longer list manx cats under the manxalot rescue program. I will continue to list for other rescues, groups and people till April 1, 2006. Why that date, not because it is April Fools but because that is when Lunableu will be 7 years old. She’s an April fool’s baby and was my soul and inspiration for starting Manxalot Rescue.

I have given the manx rescue community so much and they have given a lot back but in all that time, I couldn't get as organized as I wanted. Without a support staff to help, I just cannot do it alone any more. I end up with more tears of sadness then tears of joy. Too many requests coming in, too many listings, people asking to be notified of a specific type of manx but not accepting to join the lists which provide info for them. Too many situations that I just cannot help the manx out.

Too many listings of manx who I try so hard to find homes for only to end up finding out that the group, person or rescue failed to notify me that the manx found a home weeks or months ago and that all my work and correspondence with a potential adoption was for naught. To many emails or phone numbers going dead or not having any response when a potential adopter is found. The updates, the listings, the groups, the reference checks, and web site, after almost 7 years of working Manxalot Rescue by myself, has taken its toll on me. Lately it seems I get emails for manx cats that are in situations or places that I just cannot get help to them or help them myself.

I do give MANY thanks to the wonderful foster homes that have come my way and to those people who offer help no matter what is going on in their lives. Without them Manxalot Rescue would never have stayed up and running as long as it has.

So as of December 31st, 2005, I will no longer accept cats under the Manxalot Rescue name and as of April 1, 2006, I will no longer list for others or may on a special case by case basis list. I will keep vigilant to those who are in the foster system of Manxalot and those who I have on my site till each of them has found a home. Even if it takes another 2 years to help them find the right family for the remaining manx. I will update the Manxalot Rescue Website as a resource center for information in the coming months.

Trust me no one is more upset about this then I am. Manxalot Rescue has changed my world and my life. Rescuing my manx Lunableu almost 7 years ago literally saved my life. I was chemically depressed and had tried to kill myself twice. I didn't see any reason to live, till I found a manx who wanted to live but was on the verge of death for being unwanted & needed someone to care for her. I’ll never regret what I had to do to save her nor will I ever regret the blood sweat and tears that have gone into saving the many manx that have come through Manxalot Rescue.

I will keep manxcuties up and running, and of course available manx will stay up and running so those looking and those who have one needing a home can post.

I want to thank each and every one of my wonderful friends who I have met during my journey here at Manxalot Rescue.
